James Besse Visits GCAS in Maribor

James Besse Visits GCAS in Maribor

Yesterday, James Besse came to Maribor, Slovenia for the first time. He had already taken a few seminar courses in psychoanalysis with Prof. Julie Reshe, earlier this year, but now James, like 40 + others, is taking the next step and applying to the MA program in the Humanities at Alma Mater Europaea.

We asked James why he’s interested in GCAS and he said, “I am interested in studying with GCAS because it does education differently, and offers a way of studying across disciplines and in a collaborative, groundbreaking way.”

So he came and met up with David Steinrueck and me in the medieval centre of town. We discussed his research interests which includes, theory of images and representation, the development of subjectivity, and the philosophy of language.  James grew up in Littleton, Massachusetts and is finishing his BA at Bennington College. He and David explored a few of the many charming secrets of beautiful Maribor.

We are excited about James’ application and others, which are due on January 15, 2017.

The first class for the new MA and PhD students in 2017 will be held in Paris, France with the legendary philosopher and psychoanalyst, Luce Irigaray (pictured below).
