GCAS-AMEU Theology Summit: “Insurrectionist Politics & Theology” A Report
Several leading scholars and activists descended on Maribor, Slovenia where we held a Summit (July 13-14) to discuss key concepts in the fields of philosophy, political theology, religion, and culture. In all, a dozen scholars presented on topics from ecology, democracy, queer studies, immigration, Latin American theology, intersectionality, the trinity, social activism and more. It was a great and refreshing experience for all and reaffirmed the need to think beyond the restrictions of any one subject such as political theology.
The conference was hosted by GCAS and Alma Mater Europaea–ECM and was a hybrid conference in that the platform was both in person and online that welcomed participants from all over the world–from Japan to Europe to the Americas.
Several participants enjoyed the beautiful mountains in Northern Slovenia and the night culture in Maribor. We would like to thank Alma Mater Europaea for their generosity and look to continue meeting annually to discuss and develop this emerging new interdisciplinary field of inquiry.
